Mauve Ribbed Bauble

This small ribbed bauble is hand-blown in India for Arthur Cameron in a soft mauve glass, and it measures about 5cm across. It is finished with an ornate bronze-coloured cap and hangs from a length of organza ribbon in a matching shade.

Fine ribs run from the cap to the base and catch the light along their edges in narrow vertical lines. At 5cm it is light enough for the upper branches of a tree, where a heavier bauble would pull the tips down.

Caring for Your Ribbed Bauble

Check that the cap is pressed firmly onto the neck of the bauble before hanging it, as caps can loosen in storage and the glass will drop if the cap slips. Dust it with a soft brush, which reaches into the grooves between the ribs. Store it in tissue, with the ribbon folded loosely so that it keeps its shape.
