Gold Metal Elephant Decoration

This elephant is cast in recycled aluminium, finished in gold and modelled on both sides with its trunk raised. It hangs from a loop of red velvet and is handcrafted in India for Namaste.

In Indian tradition, and in feng shui, an elephant with a raised trunk is held to bring good fortune, which is why the pose is so common in decorative metalwork. At 9 × 10cm, it is sized for a branch of the Christmas tree or a window.

Aluminium can be recycled indefinitely, and recasting it takes far less energy than producing new metal from ore.

Looking After an Aluminium Decoration

Wipe the elephant with a soft, damp cloth and dry it at once. Abrasive cleaners will wear through the gold finish, so avoid scourers and metal polish.
