Marushka Blue Mini Square Silk Scarf

Marushka in blue is one of Les Belles Vagabondes' mini scarves, 50 x 50cm of pure silk with a hand-rolled hem. The same motif appears across several colourways, since each of Françoise's designs is produced in six to eight different colour combinations.

Small enough to be genuinely useful, it sits at the neck, on a wrist, in the hair, or knotted onto a bag.

How the Printing Works

The brand refuses digital printing in favour of traditional Indian screen printing, which takes longer and gives colours more nuance. Each colour in a design needs its own frame, and the layers are superimposed to build the finished image. Dyes are mixed by hand from powders and natural gums, with over 500 shades available to draw on.

After printing and processing, the fabric is cut by hand and hemmed in the French style, the edge rolled and stitched by hand along all four sides.

Les Belles Vagabondes' printing partner is a member of SEDEX, the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange, audited under the SMETA framework across labour rights, health and safety, environmental practice and business ethics. The dyes are AZO-free, free of heavy metals and hazardous chemicals.

How to Care for Your Silk

Wash by hand in cool water with a gentle detergent, or have it dry cleaned. Never wring it: wet silk fibres stretch and do not fully recover their shape. Roll it in a towel to draw the water out, then dry away from heat and sun.
