The Horseshoe Wedding & Good Luck Greetings Card is printed in Glasgow by The Passenger Press, on paper milled in the UK, from an 1895 print of a horseshoe found among the historic archives that the press draws on for its cards. A QR code on the back opens the story behind the image.
The horseshoe has been given as a token of luck at British weddings for generations, and the card works just as well for a new job, an exam or a move. It is printed in small batches on an antique letterpress by Rhian Nicholas in her studio and shop in Glasgow, which gives the image a tactile, slightly pressed finish.
Hand-inking means small variations in colour and depth from card to card. It comes with a brown kraft envelope.
We stock The Passenger Press because it is one of Glasgow's own letterpress studios, printing on vintage presses a short way across the city from us.
Before and After Sending
Keep the card flat and in its envelope until the big day, as the edges can soften if they are bent. Afterwards, display it away from steam and direct sun, both of which can mark the paper and fade the ink.
