Large Italian Leather Coin Purse

Montte di Jinne have worked with Italian leather artisans since 2010, and this is the larger of the two coin purses in their range, cut and stitched by hand in genuine Italian leather.

Beneath a snap closure sit three compartments, one of them zipped. The additional width across the body of the purse allows cards to lie flat alongside folded notes and coins, and the interior has been left unlined, revealing the reverse of the leather.

Leather varies across a hide, so grain and depth of colour differ a little from one purse to the next, and the surface softens as it is handled.

Available in red plum, dark chocolate and black.

How to Care for Your Leather

Very little is required to keep leather in good order, and most of it comes down to avoiding damp and direct heat. Should the purse get wet, blot it with a dry cloth and leave it to dry at room temperature; leather dried too quickly, on a radiator or in strong sunlight, loses moisture from the fibres and hardens at the surface.

Dust settles into the grain over time and lifts away with a barely damp cloth. A neutral conditioner, worked in once or twice a year, will keep the surface supple and slow the drying that comes with age. Cards carried flat will press their outline into an unlined purse after a while, which is characteristic of leather this soft.
