The Orange Sakura Nasturtium mini scarf is 50 x 50cm of pure silk, drawn by hand in France by Françoise and screen printed by hand in India. Five new designs are made each season, and each appears in six to eight colourways.
It is worn at the neck, round a wrist, as a headband or through a bun, or knotted onto the handle of a bag.
How the Printing Works
Les Belles Vagabondes chose traditional screen printing over digital because it holds colour with more depth and variation. Each colour needs its own frame, and the layers are carefully superimposed to recreate the drawing. The artisans blend powdered dyes with natural gums to reach any shade they need, working from a palette of over 500.
After printing, the fabric is cut by hand and given a French-style hand-rolled hem, turned and stitched by hand around all four sides.
How This Scarf Is Made
The printing partner is a member of SEDEX, the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange, and is audited under the SMETA framework across labour rights, health and safety, environmental practice and business ethics. Dyes are AZO-free, with no heavy metals or hazardous chemicals.
How to Care for Your Silk
Hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent, or have it dry cleaned. Blot the water out in a towel rather than wringing, which stretches wet silk out of shape. Dry away from radiators and windows.
