Santa Christmas Decoration

This little Santa Christmas decoration is cut, stitched and finished by hand in felt in India, with a tall pointed hat, a soft white beard, a rosy nose and a red coat. His peaceful expression and long, narrow shape are close to the Christmas figures of Scandinavia, and he looks well tucked into the branches of a tree or hanging from a garland along the mantelpiece.

Felt can be cut without fraying, which is what allows the pieces of Santa's coat and hat to be cut cleanly and stitched together by hand without hems. Each Santa is assembled individually, so the stitching, the set of the beard and the angle of the hat vary a little from one to the next.

He measures about 11cm tall, plus his hanging loop, and makes a good stocking filler as well as a decoration.

Caring for Your Felt Santa

Brush off any dust with a soft, dry brush, and if he picks up a mark, dab it lightly with a barely damp cloth and leave him to dry flat, since soaking can loosen the stitching and pull the felt out of shape. Keep him away from candle flames, and pack him in a box with a little tissue at the end of the season.
