Vintage Stork New Baby Card

The Vintage Stork New Baby Card is a fold-out card printed and finished by hand by Vicki Brett of Manymoon Fables in her studio in Stroud. On the front, a stork flies in carrying her “special bundle”, drawn in the style of the children's books of the past, and when the card is opened it reveals a nursery scene of a baby playing with a teddy bear and building blocks.

Each card is printed in Vicki's studio and then cut, scored and folded by hand, which is what allows it to open out into a little scene, before she adds the gold detailing that finishes it.

As each one is cut and gilded by hand, there are slight differences from card to card in the placing of the gold and the line of the folds, which is the mark of something made by a person at a workbench. There is room inside for a message of congratulations.

We stock this card because Vicki makes every one herself, and the scene hidden inside makes opening it a small occasion for new parents.

Caring for Your Card

Fold-out cards are best kept closed and flat until they are given, which protects the scored folds from being creased in the wrong place. After the celebrations, store it away from bright sunlight to keep the colours from fading, and somewhere dry so the card holds its shape.
