The crystal clear design of the Duralex Versailles range of Glass Hot Coffee / Drinking Mugs provides an immediately distinctive look, while the toughened and fully tempered glass construction makes them the ideal serving solution for both home kitchen and professional bar / restaurant use.
Why Duralex Glassware?
-
Durability
Duralex cooled/tempered glass is tough — more resistant to chips, thermal shock etc. That means products last longer, replacing less often. -
Recyclability
Duralex use soda-lime glass (sand, soda ash, limestone etc.), which is fully recyclable. They also recycle their own glass (“house composition”) to reduce waste and lower melting energy. -
Materials & Toxicity
Duralex products are lead- and cadmium-free; they emphasize non-toxic glassware. - Duralex products are made in France (La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin). Many components are sourced close to the factory (~99% in France in some cases), which helps reduce transportation emissions.
- Duralex have invested in a modern melting furnace to reduce energy consumption; have filters to treat fumes; recycle raw materials from furnace emissions; integrate recycled glass into production to reduce melting temperature.
- Ownership is a worker-cooperative model. Recently (2024) Duralex transitioned to a SCOP (co-operative where workers co-own the business.
