Crochet Mouse Christmas Decoration

This grey mouse is handmade in wool in Nepal for Namaste, the UK Fair Trade importer, by a producer group guaranteed by the World Fair Trade Organization. It is made with a combination of crochet and needle-felting. It wears a felt bobble hat and a red scarf, has red paws, a long red tail and large ears, and its face is stitched by hand and finished with a soft pink nose.

At 12cm it is large enough to hold its own on a full tree, and it belongs to a small menagerie of crochet animals in Namaste's range. The producer group was set up to address social inequality by creating jobs for women, and the stitched details on each mouse are done by hand, so every face comes out a little different.

How to Care for Your Crochet Mouse

Wool resists dirt well and needs very little attention. Wipe the mouse with a damp cloth only when it is marked, and allow it to dry naturally, since washing or heat would shrink the wool and loosen the stitched features. Keep it in a dry box between seasons, away from moths.
