The Kindred Folk Scented Candle

This scented candle is hand-poured by The Kindred Folk in their studio near Loch Lomond, into an amber glass jar with a gold-coloured lid. Maura and Jordan started the company in Glasgow in 2020, teaching themselves as they went, and every candle is still made by hand.

The wax is a blend of rapeseed and coconut, poured around cotton and linen wicks and scented with paraben-free fragrance oils. It gives a strong scent, so even the medium size fills a room.

The scents in stock change with each delivery. The same fragrances come as Kindred Folk wax melts, which work with our ceramic oil burner, and for a candle scented with essential oils there are the Scott's Apothecary candles, hand-poured in Glasgow and also made in a larger 500g size.

How to Get the Best from Your Candle

On the first lighting, let it burn until the melted wax reaches the edges of the jar, which takes two to three hours and stops it tunnelling down the middle. Trim the wick to about 5mm before each lighting so the flame stays steady. Never leave a lit candle unattended.
