East End Press - Samhain Halloween Garland

This Samhain garland is designed in Glasgow by East End Press and screen printed by hand on both sides in Jaipur, India. Its paper shapes are sewn along three metres of strong cotton thread.

It is named after Samhain, the Gaelic festival that marks the start of the darker half of the year and from which Halloween grew.

The paper is made from recycled cotton waste from the textile industry, and screen printing lays down the dense, saturated colour East End Press are known for. They use no plastic in the garland or its packaging.

Hanging and Storing a Paper Garland

Hang the garland indoors and well away from radiators, candles and open flames, as paper dries out and becomes brittle near heat. After the season, wind it loosely around a sheet of card so the shapes lie flat, and store it somewhere dry, since damp will cockle the paper and soften the printed colour.
