These skull beads are painted by hand in Cusco, Peru, and imported by Siesta, a family-run Fair Trade business in Canterbury and a member of BAFTS, the British Association for Fair Trade Shops and Suppliers.
Cusco is known for its hand-painted clay beads, made in small workshops in and around the city. Each skull is painted individually, so the colours and detail vary from bead to bead, and a string of them reads as a deliberately mixed set.
The beads are sold individually.
Caring for Painted Clay Beads
Keep finished pieces dry, since water can soften the paint over time. A dry cloth is all they need to clean them, and storing them apart from metal findings keeps the painted surface from being scratched.
Material: clay, hand-painted
Sold: individually
Made in: Cusco, Peru
