Sustainable Glassware Made in France

Duralex produces all its glassware in La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin, France, with around 99% of materials sourced close to the factory. Soda-lime glass - made from sand, soda ash, and limestone - is fully recyclable, and Duralex recycles their own glass waste back into production, reducing both material waste and the energy needed for melting. A modern furnace investment and fume filtration complete a genuinely considered approach to manufacturing.

Glassware built to last is inherently more sustainable than glassware that needs replacing. This mug is designed to be both.

Tempered Glass Built to Last

Duralex tempered glass is significantly more resistant to chips, thermal shock, and impact than standard glass. This mug can handle temperature changes of up to 130°C, making it suitable for hot drinks straight from the microwave as well as cold drinks from the freezer. Lead-free and cadmium-free throughout.When it does eventually break it shatters into small blunt pieces rather than dangerous shards, making it safer for busy family homes.

Employee-Owned and Ethically Made

In July 2024 Duralex became a SCOP - a worker-owned cooperative - securing jobs and restoring confidence among staff. The people making this glass have a real stake in the business and a direct interest in the quality of every piece that leaves the factory. EU manufacturing standards mean fair pay and proper working conditions throughout. It’s a model Kelvin Rooms wholeheartedly believes in.
