Angel Rabbit Christmas Decoration

This silver-coloured angel rabbit, winged and blowing a trumpet, is cast in recycled aluminium in India for Namaste, a UK Fair Trade company. It is a modern take on the herald angel of the Christmas tree, and it hangs from a blue velvet thread that sits well against the silver.

Aluminium can be recycled and recast many times over without any loss in its qualities, and the process uses considerably less energy than producing new metal.

The workshop that casts it provides steady jobs for its community and funds local projects from its income. Metal casting in India has traditionally been done by men, and the workshop has been opening the work to women as newer equipment has made the heaviest stages more manageable.

How to Care for Your Silver Decoration

Clean the rabbit with a soft cloth, used dry for dust or very slightly damp for fingermarks, and dry it at once so that no water marks are left on the finish. Silver-coloured finishes scratch more readily than they look, so keep it away from polish and scourers and store it in tissue between seasons.
