These slouch socks are knitted in a ribbed pattern from a blend of cashmere, lambswool and viscose, with the heel, toe and rib picked out in a contrasting colour. This season's colourway is khaki green with coral. The top is loosely elasticated, so the sock settles into soft folds around the ankle and holds gently without gripping.

They come from the studio of Catherine Tough, the textile designer who has worked from Hackney in East London since leaving the Royal College of Art in 1999. Her socks are stocked by independent shops across the UK and abroad, and the cashmere blend has been a fixture of her collection for years.

Cashmere Socks for Women

The yarn is spun in Italy. It is 10% cashmere and 40% lambswool for softness and warmth, 30% EcoVero viscose for drape, and 20% recycled polyamide so the heel and toe last. The result is a midweight sock that feels soft on bare feet and wears well over time.

They are at their best at home, as bed socks or on a cold morning across a wooden floor. They are slim enough to wear with boots and shoes too.
