A paddle brush cut from sandalwood, set with wide-spaced bamboo bristles rather than plastic pins. Sandalwood is a dense, close-grained timber, which is why it takes the deep finish it does and why the brush has some weight in the hand.
Bamboo bristles carry a static charge far less readily than nylon, so hair lifts and separates rather than flying away from the brush. The wide spacing lets the bristles pass through without dragging, and the rounded tips move over the scalp comfortably enough to make a slow brushing a pleasure rather than a chore.
Brushing from the roots down carries the natural oils that sit at the scalp along the length of the hair, which is what leaves it looking glossier from mid-length to ends. It suits all hair types, fine through to thick and curly.
How to Care for Your Brush
Clear the shed hair from between the bristles every week or so, lifting it out with the end of a comb rather than pulling at the bristles themselves. Wipe the wood with a barely damp cloth and dry it straight away.
Never soak a wooden brush or leave it sitting in a wet bathroom. Wood swells as it takes on water and shrinks again as it dries, and repeated cycles of that are what loosen bristles from their bed. Kept dry, a brush like this lasts years.
Material: sandalwood with natural bamboo bristles
Care: wipe clean with a damp cloth, keep dry
