Peace & Love Fuchsia Silk Scarf

Peace and Love in fuchsia is a silk scarf from Les Belles Vagabondes, hand-drawn in France and printed by hand in India. The brand takes its time deliberately: the drawing, the colour separation and the printing are all done slowly, by hand, because the alternative is a digital press.

Worn at the neck, round a wrist, as a headband, or tied to a bag.

How the Printing Works

Screen printing needs one frame per colour in the design. Each is pushed through a micro-perforated stencil in turn and layered over the last, which is what gives the print its nuance. The fuchsia and every other shade is mixed on site from powdered dyes and natural gums, drawn from more than 500 available colours.

The fabric is printed on tables up to 36 metres long, then cut by hand and hemmed in the French style, the edge rolled and stitched by hand.

How This Scarf Is Made

The workshop is a SEDEX member, audited under SMETA across labour rights, health and safety, environmental practice and business ethics. The dyes are AZO-free, free of heavy metals and hazardous chemicals. Les Belles Vagabondes work only in silk, wool and organic cotton.

How to Care for Your Silk

Hand wash cool with a gentle detergent, or dry clean. Do not wring it. Dry away from direct heat and sunlight, and store it out of strong light.
