The Tea Cup Letterpress Greeting Card is printed in Glasgow by The Passenger Press, on paper milled in the UK, with a Wedgwood tea cup taken from the Army & Navy Co-operative Society's general price list of September 1894. The original is held in the House of Fraser Archive at the University of Glasgow Archive Services, and a QR code on the back of the card tells its story.

The card is part of the Keyhole Collection, in which Rhian Nicholas brings images out of archives and libraries and prints them by hand on her vintage letterpresses in Glasgow. Each card is printed in a small batch, with the image pressed lightly into the surface of the paper.

The slight differences in inking from one run to the next are the sign of a press worked by hand. It comes with a brown kraft envelope and suits a birthday, a thank you, or anyone who loves a good cup of tea.

We stock it because the archive that holds the original price list is at the University of Glasgow, a short walk from the shop.

Keeping Your Card Flat

Store the card flat, ideally in its envelope, so it doesn't curl or pick up marks before you write it. If it's going on display, keep it out of strong sunlight to stop the ink from fading.
