Lucy Campbell paints at home in Scotland, and this card is printed from one of her original paintings. It is among the designs her studio has reprinted most often, which is a reasonable guide to how a card performs on a shelf.
Campbell has been exhibiting and selling original paintings since 2003 and started producing cards from them at the end of 2012. The studio name, LupiArt, is drawn from lupine, the Latin for wolf-like, and from Lupi-Lu, a nickname she had as a child.
The card measures 15 x 15cm and is left blank inside, so it carries a birthday, a thank you or a note with no occasion attached. Each one arrives individually wrapped in a biodegradable cellophane sleeve with an envelope.
How to Keep Your Card Flat
If a card has been left standing and has taken a slight curl, close it, lay it under a heavy book on a flat surface and leave it overnight, which relaxes the fibres without pressing a crease into the fold. Avoid ironing it or holding it near heat, since warmth applied quickly draws moisture out of one side of the stock faster than the other and sets the curve in rather than releasing it.
